Watersports in Diani Beach

Immerse yourself in the azure waters of Diani Beach and discover a world of aquatic adventure. At Almanara, we connect you to the ocean through curated water sports experiences — from serene snorkelling to high-speed jet ski rides. Whether you seek peaceful discovery or thrilling action, our team will ensure your day on the water becomes one of your holiday highlights. Diani’s coastline is protected by coral reefs, creating calm lagoons and clear waters ideal for underwater exploration. Warm tropical seas, vibrant marine life, and gentle currents make it a perfect playground for water sports — ideal for novices and experienced adventurers alike.

Kite & Windsurfing

With warm waters, steady trade winds, and wide open beaches, Diani Beach offers some of the best kite and windsurfing conditions in Kenya.

The Kaskazi, blowing onshore from the north, is known locally as the Baridi (“cold” in Kiswahili). It arrives around mid-December and lasts through to late February, delivering consistent winds between 15 and 25 knots — ideal for freestyle and downwind sessions.

The Kuzi, a gentler monsoon wind from the south, takes over between June and September, bringing steady breezes of 10 to 22 knots that are perfect for beginners and cruisers alike.

Equipment hire & lessons are available at H2O Extreme — Diani’s original kite and windsurfing centre, located just 30 metres from Almanara.

Snorkelling & Scuba Diving

In partnership with Diving The Crab, a fully PADI-certified dive centre, we offer a wide range of scuba diving and snorkelling experiences along Diani’s spectacular coastline. Beginners can start with pool trials or Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) sessions — the perfect way to sample the underwater world in a safe and comfortable setting.

For those wishing to go further, bespoke Open Water and Advanced courses can be arranged directly from the comfort of your villa, allowing you to learn at your own pace and schedule. With more than 25 world-class dive sites nearby — including the famous Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Reserve — divers are treated to thriving coral reefs and an abundance of marine life.

Half- and full-day trips, including 2–4 dive packages, can be organised through our team for guests of all experience levels.

Snorkelling & SUP

For a calmer way to explore the coastline, take to the water on a kayak or stand-up paddleboard and glide across the calm turquoise lagoons of Diani Beach. The sheltered reef creates gentle conditions perfect for beginners and those simply looking to unwind on the ocean.

Guests can paddle along the shoreline, drift over vibrant coral shallows, or venture towards the sandbars that appear at low tide. Whether you prefer a peaceful sunrise session or a relaxed afternoon paddle, this is one of the most tranquil ways to experience the beauty of Diani from the water.
